The ghost among the golden flowers

It was glorious outside, full of colors and M’aiqs’ sunflower crops had grown beautifully and it was time to collect them before they began to rot. Standing outside was refreshing as the ground was covered in vibrant reds, oranges, yellows and greens as the trees lost their leaves. He took a sharp blade and stepped outside to collect his flowers. He took care when with each flower trying to dig out the roots and using the sharp blade to cut into the soil around the stem in a circle pattern creating a cylinder of soil encapsulating the roots of the plant.  The flowers were now over ten feet tall and M’aiq took care to lay them down in a pile at the end of the row after cutting each one out of the ground. As he was working he spotted them, his mortal enemy the groobis. The fall groobis blended in with the scenery of the fallen leaves coming in orange, green, red and the one who really stood out which was blueish white. The groobis had plenty to munch and crunch on, and yet here they were bothering M’aiqs’ crops. Listening to the rustling sounds of the leaves and the sounds of the woolimoos which he had made friends with. The crunch of leaves below the woolimoos’ hooves covered the sound of the intruders at first, until M’aiq turned to move on to the next plant, and saw a bright blue groobi grubby foot in mouth with a missing chunk out of one of the cut sunflower’s leaf. Its eyes widened as M’aiq began to step towards it. He left the knife stabbed into the soil, and slowly stalked forward towards the groobi. The groobi froze standing as still as possible, hoping M’aiq was stalking towards something else. The groobi looked like a little ghost with two little wisps that seemed like little ears as M’aiq crept closer. Suddenly he stopped moving and both stood still staring the other down. M’aiq suddenly breathed out heavy through his nose creating a large sound in the almost silent standoff, and this caused the groobi to flinch. Once the groobi flinched, it took off crawling away from the irritated Arcanai.

M’aiq took off after the groobi, which should have been an easy creature to catch but there were many obstacles in his way. The first of which was the groobi headed straight towards the large pile of leaves next to the garden. M’aiq had raked these leaves the previous day to clear the garden so he could collect his plants today. The groobi entered the pile of leaves disappearing, and the much larger M’aiq jumped in right after. Leaves went scattering and adhered themselves to the fluff on M’aiqs body. He quickly scattered the whole pile of leaves swinging his body through it to eliminate the hiding place entirely.  M’aiq now looked in spirit for the season with all the leaves sticking to him. As he patted through the now flatten leaves like a possessed cat, he heard a woolimoo make a rather loud sound and looked up to see the blue ghost-like groobi climbing the front leg of an apple crisp woolimoo.  The woolimoo was spooked and took off trying to lose the groobi. M’aiq crunched, wings now extended and brought his wings down hard and shot out of the leaves, running as fast as he could to catch up. He let out a whistle as he neared the woolimoo, hoping that it would catch the woolimoos attention. It worked and the larger creature stopped as the groobi had now managed to crawl to the woolimoos shoulder. M’aiq closed the distance while making clicking sounds to keep the larger creature's attention.  Once the was within striking distance, M’aiq reached out with his paws and grabbed the offensive creature. The small groobi wiggled and fought to become free from the arcanai’s grasp to no avail. As M’aiq continued to move towards the forest edge, the tiny creature continued its attempts to gain freedom even resorting to biting at his paws. Leave little dents into his scales but no real damage.

Once he reached the edge of the forest, M’aiq looked around to see plenty of wild plants he could leave the blue creature on. He spotted an old berry bush and approached it to set the little creature on it. As he got closer he caught sight of more groobis, some orange with little pumpkin like heads, some green with little stitch like markings, and to his relief a few bright blue groobis which matched the one he held. He gently set the groobi at the base of the bush and pushed it gently towards the other groobis before setting off back towards his garden. He spotted a wild carrot on his wander back out of the forest edge and grabbed it taking a small detour to visit the woolimoo which the groobi climbed. M’aiq whistled while approaching the woolimoo to catch its attention, and finally rolled the carrot towards the creature. He then happily continued to bound back to his garden only to find that fall much like spring had a rather annoying groobi issue. He began to keep them in a woven basket, electing to take them back to the forest when he was done rather than spend his day walking back and forth to the forest.
